I have seen a million Gong Li movies and she never fails me. This was tough - 2hr45min Mandarin subtitles and a long story. But great regardless. I dig Chinese films that teach me, whether it be actual history or just culture. I had a long talk with my PT the morning after the opening games in Beijing. There were things she didn't get, and I feel, that I totally did because I've taken the time to start to understand Chinese art and culture. Granted, I'm no scholar, but I know more than the next twenty people in line together.
Do yourself a favor and look into the big Chinese stars...
